Wee Wee Gotta Go Pee

Today is the start of our mid-winter break from school. Luckily it is nice today, even a little bit sunny. I spent last night looking at things to do in our area, trying to come up with an activity plan so that this week is not spent just laying around the house.

Today the plan was to take Mr. B to see the new Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightening Thief movie. I arranged a play date for Beeb at a friends house this afternoon and Mr. B and I were off to the theatre.

After getting our tickets I asked Mr. B if he had to use the restroom before we found our seats. He assured me that he had no need. Of course within the first minute of the actual movie starting he leans over to me and says, "Mom, I really have to go to the bathroom." WHAT!!! So I took him to the restroom and missed the opening scene which I know was vital.

We both enjoyed the movie, though it didn't follow the book (but do they ever?). Mr. B kept asking me if the Gods were real. He thought their powers were very cool.

As we left the theater I asked Mr. B if he needed to use the restroom and once again was told "nope". Shortly after we left the parking lot and were waiting at a stoplight to turn onto the interstate Mr. B announces, "Mom, I really really have to go pee!" Are you kidding me? How could you have not realize that you had to go 3 minutes earlier when I asked but now suddenly it is so urgent you can't wait at all. With no way out of line, and no restrooms in site I had really only one option for the boy. Time to teach him the time honored male tradition of being able to pee in a plastic bottle. I handed him his empty Nestle Quick bottle and told him what to do. He was flabbergasted and yet eager to try.

Following I got to hear all about his amazement at this new reality, as if it were a superpower bestowed upon all boys. I am sure all the neighborhood mom's are going to love me after Mr. B shares his new talent with their sons.

I just can't wait to start hearing about when Mr. B starts requesting to go pee in bottle EVERY single time...even while at home! Hah!
