School Support

I am seriously behind on editing my March pictures and blogging about it but one day, probably a very random day like Feb 2011, I'll get around to finishing them and writing out the details (it was a very fun month!). In the meantime I've decided to not let that pressure get to me and to move on with my quick thoughts, observations and logics so that I don't get so far behind I give up.

Tonight we went down to Mr. B's school for an "art walk" and raffle. Since I don't really participate much at the school, due to my having Beeb at home with me during the day, I thought it would show that I do support the school and PTA by attending.

When we got their I immediately forked over my $15 for 15 raffle tickets thinking this mass quantity of ticket would ensure we'd at least win something! After filling out my name on the tickets, truly a hardship since I can't write anymore due to my fingers being so used to typing on the keyboard that they now get tired very quickly when having to grip a pen for any length of time (how sad is that?), I perused the "art".

I use the term "art" loosely since it consisted of two professional pieces (by the volunteer art teacher - who is amazing) and a bunch of hot glue gunned toy junk. . . literally. My son's class had a piece up for auction that took a large toy dump truck and glued little cars to it along with other misc toy junk. AH and I both agreed that the $5.00 starting bid was a bit high to pay for something we would simple throw away (and probably already had since some of the stuff attached look mighty familiar). Needless to say we didn't bid on any of the "art".

After 45 minutes of chasing the kiddo's around the school we finally herded them into the gym where the raffle was to take place. The kiddo's ran themselves about until they were good and sweaty and when the auction began took their seats with us. After about 15 minutes of other people winning Beeb started whining and crying to go home, Mr. B was so tired he couldn't keep his hands/body under control and kept grabbing at his sister causing her to whine louder. Another 10 minutes later (a lifetime when your kids are so miserable) AH looked at me and said, "As soon as this is over we are booking it to the car." I readily agreed.

In the end we endured bad art, paid $15 for some scraps of paper and won nothing all for the sake of our son. Boy we must surely love you a lot! (we do)
